Force-free current-induced reentrant melting of the vortex lattice in superconductors

چکیده
When increasing a current j flowing along the vortex lines, we obtain both a gradual shift of the vortexlattice melting transition ~VLMT! to a lower magnetic field and also a rising reentrant melting line, both separating the vortex solid from the vortex-liquid phase. The upper branch of the VLMT merges with the predicted reentrant lower branch at a certain value jmerge of the force-free current. We also derive the entire VLMT diagram in (B ,T , j) three-dimensional phase space, and propose possible applications of it—including a magnetic-sensitive current-controlled switch using Bi2Sr2CaCu2O81d tapes.

Vortex lattice melting theories as example of science fiction. Abstract It is shown that the popular conception of the vortex lattice melting have appeared in consequence of a incorrect notion about the Abrikosov state and incorrect definition of the phase coherence. The famous Abrikosov solution gives qualitatively incorrect result. The transition into the Abrikosov state must be first order i...
متن کاملForce Free Configurations of Vortices in High Temperature Superconductors near the Melting Transition
We study force-free configurations of Abrikosov flux lines in the line-liquid and line-crystal limit, near the melting transition at H m. We show that the condition for zero force configurations can be solved by appealing to the structure of chiral liquid crystalline phases.
متن کاملVortex lattice pinning in high-temperature superconductors
Vortex matter in high temperature superconductors has many peculiar properties such as melting of the vortex lattice, creation of new vortex-liquid phases etc. These effects are not seen in conventional superconductors. This is mainly due to the fact that HTc compounds are strongly type two superconductors with Ginzburg-Landau ratio up to ~110 that makes thermal and quantum fluctuations more pr...
متن کاملAnomalous Nernst Effect in the Vortex-Liquid Phase of High-Temperature Superconductors by Layer Decoupling
– Linear diamagnetism is predicted in the vortex-liquid phase of layered superconductors at temperatures just below the mean-field phase transition on the basis of a hightemperature analysis of the corresponding frustrated XY model. The diamagnetic susceptibility, and the Nernst signal by implication, is found to vanish with temperature as (Tc0 − T ) 3 in the vicinity of the meanfield transitio...
متن کاملVortex lattice melting in layered superconductors with periodic columnar pins.
The melting of the vortex lattice in highly anisotropic, layered superconductors with commensurate, periodic columnar pins is studied in a geometry where magnetic field and columnar pins are normal to the layers. Thermodynamic properties and equilibrium density distributions are obtained from numerical minimization of an appropriate free-energy functional. We find a line of first-order transiti...
